The Publications of Dr. Mahmoud Afshar Endowment Foundation (Bonyad-e Moqufat-e Dr. Mahmoud Afshar) were established in 1973 by the endower himself with the aim of publishing books in the fields of Persian Language, Historical Geography, and History of Iran. By 1983 (the year the endower passed away), approximately 15 titles had been published.

Since that year, more than 450 titles on the same subjects have been published. The selection of books for publication is carried out by a committee of expert bibliographers and researchers.
